Archive utility doesn't delete originals

Archive Utility 10.8, Mountain Lion

I've set Archive utility Preferences to delete archives after exapnding and originals after compressing. The first works, archives are deleted, but not the second, the originals remain.

Is there a fix for this?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Archive Utility has proven to be a little buggy in 10.8.2

Mine doesn't either. It also doesn't "move to trash" or a designated folder.

Are you actually using Archive Utility, or are you using the contextual menu in Finder. The Compress contextual menu item doesn't use archive utility.
