My early 2011 MBP mag safe power adaptor cord jacket is soft and peeling like a bannana see picture. I have never had one of my PC notebook cords fail this way. It's almost as if the cord jacket is made from biodegradable plant material perhaps it is?
Will Apple replace this out of warranty as a manufacturing defect?

Wow what great customer service!! They did not pause for a moment. The Apple employee went straight to the wall got a new adaptor and sent me happlily on my way. Thanks Apple!

I wish I could have said that about the Apple employees at my local Apple Store, they basically wheren't having any of it, there arguement was the the Warranty would be only covered if split was from the below the L shape connecter, and above the battery.
Show them this thread it's the same failure mode as mine. It appears that your Apple store is not as customer oriented as mine and that should not be.
