Have you tried restoring using recovery mode?

I am having the same issue.  I updated to 6.1.2 on my iPad Mini and it started draining the battery very quickly.  It was suggested in another thread to try restoring it again, which seemed to help.

I put it on the charger and shut it off to charge up to 100%.  When I tried to turn it back on, I got a bright white screen, and it shut off and won't turn back on.

It looks like Apple has bricked a bunch of iPads with their new update.

I really wish people would stop replying with responses like this.  READ THE DESCRIPTION.

The iPad won't TURN ON.  You can't restore it because it's not recognized by iTunes.  I doesn't do anything.

This is an issue with the "update" that was supposed to resolve battery issues and actually CAUSED THEM.

Mine died AFTER charging for 5 hours.  It doesn't have a dead battery.

Mine did this earlier today....Black screen, and nothing....Sat for a few seconds freaking out, and then I tried a reset, worked great.  Press and hold both the power and Home buttons for 10-15 seconds.  You'll see the Apple logo show up on the screen and at this point, release both buttons and your iPad should boot back up.

This doesn't work.  It won't reset.  It's like it's stuck on with the screen off.  My only guess is that maybe leaving it off the charger until it really dies (you can feel that's its warm, so you know it's still on) then charging might force a hard reset and pull it out of "freeze mode".

Yeah, that is how mine acted too, like it was turned off and stayed that way.  I do have a Smart Cover on mine and when I opened it up, it was like it was turned off, then when I pushed power, nothing happened.  Tried holding just the power button for a few and nothing happened which why I then tried the reset, this worked for me.  Not really sure what else you can try other than calling Apple or taking the iPad into an Apple store to the Genius Bar and have them take a look at it and see if they can do anything for you.

    I got this problem too.

The screen is totally black. You can see it " black-dim " when you turn it Off & On.

You can ear the email tones when I receive an email.

So it's definitvly working ... just show's a balck screen.

    So here's what I did (don't get your hope's up .. I'm still stuck).

1- I tried to put it on recovery mode. It does ... but I can't see the usuall iTunes and connector image, I still get a  black screen.

2- Rebooted it from recovery, still black

3- Did a full Restore, still black

Now it's totally empty and still the same black screen.

    Any ideas ?

Same problem but gave 3 sharp whacks on the back and the Apple icon came on.  Don't know why it worked. Just happy it did.

Thank you Stanjman!  I tried all of the above and nothing worked.  I read Stanjman's post and did the 3 sharp whacks on the back and this fixed it!

I was having the same problems that Alexlava described on a iPad 2. I thought this was a joke but with no other options I tried the 3 sharp whacks. It worked and now I can't stop laughing. Thank you Stanjman.
