Q: black ipad screen wont turn on

I thought this was a bogud post that everyone was jumping on the bandwagon. I hit it on the back but it didnt work. Then I read the post about hitting it on on the table with the screen facing me and IT WORKED!!! Thanks so much!!!!

at this Mini iPad...So I GAVE it 3 Hard wacks ! I a little twinkle ...so I whacked it again! Bingo !

My Apple ! I waited and then hit the on and start buttons...there it was , showing a full charge .

Usually I hit things with a Hammer !  Thanks a Lot for your help.

I gave my ipad 3 sharp whacks on the back & it really worked. Thank you Stanjman. I am very happy.

I've been working on this iPad all day trying to figure why it wouldn't boot, knew it was full (battery) since I'm recharing everything to the max since we've got so many power outages/snow/ice etc (Georgia ice 2014!) was using it in the a.m, put it down, went back was blank!  I could tell it was coming on because the screen was a dark blue but no display.  Did the reboot method as I've done in th past, nothing, nada, zilch.  read Stanjman's trick and thought 'no way funnyman', then people not believing it worked. So I tried it, nothing.  Of course they were 'baby burps', as I was nervous. Read on and that many people can't be pranking.  Went back to the ipad and whacked it good with my knuckles on the back, only once and VOILA!  Omg, that is A-mazing.  I was actually speechless (and that's unreal for me) Here's one for you Stanjman! ;-D

I dropped my Ipad from litteraly half a foot. Now the screen will only light up. what do i do?

this is weird, Stanjman you voodo master. it freaking works, whacking the iPad three times and screen back again. I tell you that I never ever would have belived in this trick if not all on this thread had screamed as I scream now. What the heck is this Apple??? If I would have gone to a Genius store and seen someone whacking an iPad I would most probably have backed out in silence and never visited that store again...

My came up to me this morning with this same screen problem on his ipad2.  I read these posts and thought, no way will it work, but it did.  I only had to whack it once though.  Unreal.

I had the same problem. Screen black, was dim when you press power button.  You could hear the email message tone and any other messages that came through, so I knew it was working.

I tried the reset.

I tried to restore to factory settings.

I tried leaving it to be drained of any battery power then charging and trying all of the above again.

NOTHING WORKED !!!!

Came on here using my iPhone to see if there is any help and saw people having same problem.

Trying same things as I've done.

Then I read the 3 whacks on the back trick.

I actually shook my head and laughed.

Then thought "well I've tried everything else"..... So I whacked it on the back where the apple sticker is.

I really don't believe it... BUT IT ACTUALLY WORKED !!

Came back on 2nd Whack... But all colours were distorted.

Gave it a 3rd whack and I'm now typing this reply on the once thought dead ipad 2  in disbelief !!!

You should be kidding me. This works guys. feel so relieved after a disappointing visit to an Apple Genius, who asked to pay me 200£ for the repair.
