Q: Changed my network provider and Iphone 4 s will not accept the sim card.

Carphone Warehouse have said that the phone locks itself to the provider of the first sim card and requires a

code from Apple to unlock it. Is this the case? I have applied through Orange for it but they say it will take up to 30 days to

get it. Is this the right tree to be barking up?

Only the wireless carrier to which the iPhone is locked can

unlock it. If the iPhone is locked to Orange, you have to

work with Orange to get it unlocked. Perhaps someone

more familiar with UK wireless providers will jump in as

to the 30 day period, but generally the wireless provider

sets the unlock requirements. It sounds like Orange is trying

to discourage unlocking or at least make it inconvenient.
