Migration Assistant

I'm using Migration Assistant to transfer data from my daughter's old MacBook (2006, 13", white) to her new MacBook Pro (13", 2012). Transferring data from the old via EZ-Dock because her old computer doesn't always turn on. (FYI-have used the EZ-Dock to access her computer without a problem in the past.) Began the migration process 21 hours ago and for the last 18 hours it's been stuck on about 24 minutes remaining transferring the applications folder. We're connected via USB. I want to stop the migration without damaging data on either harddrive. Is it possible? And if it is possible, how do I go about stopping the migration process? More infor: the old MB is running Snow Leopard and the new is running Mountain Lion.
