Avoid MBP problems by upgrading from Apple Store online?

Hello everyone,
I read somewhere (on a review possibly) that the newer MBP lack the problems that many are seeing, such as the whine, etc. This may or may not be true, but is it worth it to have apple upgrade the RAM or something to attemp to get a new model instead of an earlier one? Will upgrading RAM force apple to build a new machine? To specify "is it worth it," I have found RAM for much much cheaper online, as I am sure many of have as well. Thank you in advance for any help.

Upgrading the RAM will not force Apple to build a new machine, but you can do it for much cheaper than Apple. And it's really worth it, I believe if you want 100% performance, you should have at least 1 GB RAM. Just don't go for something really cheap, as those may cause kernel panics and other issues. Choose very carefully, get exact same specs of Apple RAMs, buy something like Crucial, etc.
