my computer wont recognize ipod touch

my ipod touch isnt recognized by my computer. nothing happens when i plug it in, im on windows and my computer doesnt even show i have anything plugged in. Ive done everything from another usb cable to another usb port to another computer. Nothing helps, but when i plug my iphone 5 in it works perfectly. Im stuck at a connect to itunes page, but i can turn the device on and off. how do i get this ipod working?
