How to make End Credits

Hi Guys,

Working on a project at the moment where I would like to make the end credits film like. I know about the scrolling text function in FCP5 and with livetype. But I need to include some logos and things like that, like in all motion pictures. Is there a specfic program that I need to purchase to get the scrolling text look and also include all the logos that I need to?

Mmm... ok... have you set up your scrolling text yet?

I assume you want some thing like -

BLAH BLAH BLAH PRODUCTIONS

=======L O G O========

with the logo scrolling up at the same rate as the text.

The way i do it (which works for me)... When you write the text for the scroll, you leave enough room for the logo to fit in.

Jeez, this is gonna be hard to explain on the forum...

I'll start again...

you have your scrolling text on V1... using the example above, you place your still image of the logo on V2. You want the IN-point for the logo clip (image) to start on the timeline when the BLAH BLAH BLAH PRODUCTIONS is at the bottom of the canvas screen, and the logo clip to end when the BLAH BLAH BLAH is at the top.

You will have to fiddle with the timing to get it right, but it's quite easy -

Put the play head on the timeline at the start of the logo-clip (image), position the logo just off the BOTTOM of the canvas screen, and set a motion/position keyframe, then move the playhead to the end of the logo clip (image) and position the logo just off the TOP on the canvas and set another motion/position keyframe...

Basically , you are setting a simple motion path for the logo, from the bottom to the top of the screen, and using the scrolling text underneath for timing reference. Once you have the timing right, you can slide the clip left-or-right on the timeline so that ot sits correctly under the BLAH BLAH BLAH text.

Blimey... i confused myself trying to explain this... god knows what you make of it User uploaded file

Excellent, James M!
I followed it alright - but it may be harder if the OP doesn't know how to use keyframes.

James R -
If you don't understand keyframes, it's worth learning as they'll open up a new world of editing opportunities to you.
