Q: my 80gb shows as connected but does not show in iTunes. Song also deleted self from iPod. Help?

my 80gb shows as connected but does not show in iTunes Library. Will not sync, also song also deleted self from iPod. I tried to restore to fact setting but got error 1439. Help?
