screen recording

My son does alot of screen recording in quick time on our imac using lion.Today when he tried to do one it said (There is not enough available space to continue the file writing. Make room by deleting existing videos or photos.) I deleted lots of videos(10 hours) and pics(200) but it still says the same thing. What am I missing? He uses this for a school project and I can't get it working>
