icloud need phone update!

Okay so ah have my iphone 4s fixed and theyvhad to reset it. We got it all hooked up and going but now i cant get all my stuff from icloud. I tried resetting it myself, but its says my phone needs an update to get my stuff on my iphone, so what do i do?im updating it now but i dont kno if i reset it if itll save the update?so what do i do?
