New mail comes in and shows up as read

First off, new mail comes in and shows in the Inbox as read. Also when I send an email, the info progress section bottom left says Sending 2 of 2", where surely it should say 1 of 1.

Also if I hit the get mail icon, most of the time the application tells me it's getting new mail, but there is nothing new to get - it's already here. It's so confusing.

There used to be a progress bar, where now it shows only the transfer rate.

Am I missing something?
