Apple TV / Mirroring Icon does not appear on my iPad 2

Hello:

I have a brand new Apple TV and an iPad 2 and a brand new iPad 4. I want to be able to mirror my iPad on the TV using the Apple TV. All three devices are connected to the same WiFi network.

When I double tap the "home" button on my iPad 4 and swipe to the left to view the controls, I can see the icon to enable me to mirror my iPad to the Apple TV.

However, when I double tap the "home" button on my iPad 2 and swipe to the left to view the controls, I do not have the icon to mirror my iPad 2 to the Apple TV.

I have already verified I am successfully connected to the same WiFi network, that I can sync & surf using all devices. Mirroring is supposed to be supported on the iPad 2, but in my case, it simply doesn't exist.

My iPad 2 was running iOS 6.1.1, so I went ahead and updated it to 6.1.2, but I still can't even see the icon to enable mirroring.

My iPad 4 is running 6.1.2.

My Apple TV says the software it is running is current and up to date.

Why am I unable to mirror from my iPad 2, but I can from my iPad 4?

Thanks,

iCloud-OTHER

Thanks, but a I indicated in my original post, I have already tried everything in that KB article. That article doesn't address the fact that I can mirror from an iPad 4, but not from an iPad 2. According to all of the documentation about mirroring, there is no reason why the airplay / mirroring icon shouldn't appear. It's explicitly enabled on iPad 2.
