How is pressing the same key multiple times "one" action? Sounds like multiple actions to me.
It's multiple actions with no effort associated: no finger travel. The OsX way needs you to type, then change do arrows to cycle through files (after considering the right view mode). Of course, any of this is hardly considered 'hard work', but in terms of usability it's considerable.
You can keep fighting with youself
Listen, I'm the one trying. I'm the one who was willing to change OS just for the sake of trying it. But this is no religion, I can make the move and find faults at both sides of the aisle. This discussion is about something that I think doesn't excel at its task. You can keep saying that I need to adapt. Well, I guess I'll have to, Im sitting on top of a 3000€ machine, so I have to. But that doesn't mean that by adapting I think that particular process is the best to achieve something.
It has worked that way for near 30 years.
I don't doubt it has worked, but there's no space for improvement, then?
Again, at this moment I'm just discussing usability. I understand the OsX way is this and no other, but I strongly believe it's not the better way.
