2006 MacBook - Cannot re-install Osx Tiger

I got an old white MacBook from 2006 and I wanted to wipe it but did t have a start up disc.

so I wiped it some how to the point where there wasn't even a OS on it anymore and when I started it up it just was white and had a file icon with a question mark in the middle.

So I bought a osx tiger disc off ebay and stuck it in and when it starts up it comes up with a message saying I cannot install this software on this mac. And gives me the option to restart or start te start up disk (whic does exist anymore)

I'm confused as I'm good with this sort of stuff.

The disc is a specific MacBook osx disc, not a plain tiger one. So is this an issue?

Mac OS X (10.5.4)

Yes. It will only work on the Mac it was issued with.

See if you can get your money back.

You may be able to get a replacement set by calling AppleCare.
