Deleted OS X by mistake.

Hello everyone here.

On my Macbook pro I decided I wanted to erase all the data, so after scouring the internet in order to find some tips on how to do this I got told I had to do it from the recovery menu when you boot the laptop up, so I erased all my data and now when I turn my laptop on it comes up with a folder with a question mark on it. So I went into the boot menu again and now i'm presented with internet recovery which is all great and dandy BUT I cannot connect meaning I cannot download Lion back onto my macbook. How do I go about fixing this? I have mountain lion on my iMac can I make a USB stick a bootable disc so I can install it like that? Really need help as I have sold this macbook and am preparing it to go to it's new owner.

Thanks in advance everyone.
