Dec 22, 2013 1:22 PM in response to ddfaulkby Mike Sombrio,Bluetooth pairing between iPhone and Mac IS NOT SUPPORTED. The only two work arounds are to either have tethering enabled by your cell carrier or have a jail broken iPhone.

Dec 31, 2014 3:59 AM in response to danielaacarpioby Mike Sombrio,While Continuity and Handoff USE bluetooh 4.0 they don't need to be paired......it's magic and while your iphone meets the spec your macbook doesn't.
Connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac using Continuity - Apple Support and System requirements for Continuity on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac - Apple Support
