Error message!

When I click on my iTunes icon an error message comes up saying it is corrupted or not installed correctly. I've had iTunes for three years and I don't know why this is happening now. What could be wrong?

iPod shuffle, Windows Vista

Let's try a repair install of iTunes first.

Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "iTunes" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "iTunes", click "Change" and then click "Repair".

Can you launch your iTunes now?

"The application or DLL C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check against your installation diskette" and when I press OK, a 2nd message comes up: "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes.

Error 7 (Windows error 193)

Not something I'd use CleanUp for. That's just a damaged iTunes program file by the sound of things.

Try the repair install I suggested to Pippy. Does that get your iTunes launching again?

Okay. Let's try that again, only with the old dll file out of the way.

First we'll need to change some view options on the PC.

1. Open My Computer from the desktop or Start menu.

2. In the Tools menu, click Folder Options.

3. Click the View tab.

4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected, and the "Hide extensions for known file types" option is unchecked.

5. Click OK.

Now in My Computer, open your C:\ Drive.

Open the "Program files" folder.

Open the "iTunes" folder.

Drag the iTunes.dll file out of there and onto your desktop.

Now try the repair install again. Any better luck this time?
