help

im in thailand, i had a brand new iphone 5 bought outright from apple sent over. took it to a dealer to put my thai sim in, all was working great until i brought it home and plugged it into itunes, realized there was a problem when it wouldnt sync, then decided to restore it , it came up with "cannot restore it at this moment because cant contact the sever" persevered with a few things, almost got there with abother attempt extracting software etc, then it failed with a -1 error message. anybody any ideas? this is a brand new phone.
