OS x Mountain Lion failed due to recovery system cant be created

Hello

Require assistance please, i am unable to instal OSX Mountain Lion - I have a macbook pro operating system is os x Snow leopard. I have done all the necessary updates and once i have downloaded and about to instal OS x Mountain Lion, the below message appears.

Failed OS X instal - Recovery system cant be created .... What does this mean do i need to download updates or something...
