I can slide to unlock my Iphone 4s, but as soon as the keyboad appears i can hit the buttons but it does not type so i cant get into my iphone

iPhone 4S, iOS 6.1.2

Reset the device by pressing and holding the home and power buttons until the white Apple logo appears.
