no messages until you refresh mail with exchange 2010

I have a user running Mail and connecting to Exchange 2010 SP1. It is a massive 25+gb mailbox. Are there any defined size limits on mailbox size for Mail? Recently, he stopped getting new mail unless he closed/reopened Mail. He rebuilt the index files which helped for a day or so but the problem has returned.

Any ideas on what i can try next?
