My internet connection goes through periods of no connection: several times an hour. It's as if the connection is dumped and then spends a minute or two reconnecting. It's very aggravating especially during a movie download - when after a 60% completion I get the familiar FAILED TO DOWNLOAD notification.

Please note my WiFi is NOT connected, the router appears to function normally.

Can anyone let me know what could be wrong?

The Apple tech support just have no answer.

I would try to connect directly from your modem to your computer, without using your router, if the problem persist there may be an issue with your internet service. See with your Internet provider.
