Unable to Mount an iSCSI Partition after Initialisation

I am using a Thecus N7700pro NAS with an iSCSI LUN. I have installed and configured the globalSAN Initiator and have successfully connected to the iSCSI target.

In Disk Utility I am able to see the new LUN and am able to create a single 1.3TB partition using Mac OS Extended (Journaled). The operation appears to complete sucessfully but the log shows that the volume failed to mount after the erase and format.
