Change the name of my computer

Open the Sharing pane of System Preferences and change it.

I changed mine by simply clicking on the computer name on my desktop.

You likely just changed the name of your Mac's hard drive, and not the name of the system itself. The name of the computer is used to connect to from another system (ie, for screen sharing or file sharing and other similar services).

Thanks, you were right. I have changed it properly now using the system prefernces >> sharing option above.
