I have a new late 2012 iMac. Following setup, I noticed two unknown files in the Documents folder: kyautofill and kypackinglist. What are these files associated with? Can they be safely deleted?

What happens if you control click them? Do they show a link to an application?
Thanks for the reply, Eric. Oddly enough, both files are blank when I click on them. The only applications that I have downloaded thus far on the new iMac are Microsoft Office 2011 and ESET Cyber Security.
It appears these are TextEdit files, possibly associated with Microsoft Office.
I'm not familiar with ESET Cyber Security, but my suggestion would be to contact them in an attempt to determine if the files are part of that program.

Another option would be to do a backup, delete the files, and see if everything works. If not, you could then restore them.
I have the same thing on a brand new MacBook Pro Retina. Are these safe to delete?
Do you use a Kayak app? I noticed the same thing and discovered it within a Kayak icloud folder. Try this on a mac: Go -> Go To Folder -> type: ~/Library/Mobile Documents/ -> Go. See if you have a folder that says kayak travel, open that folder, open the documents folder and see if the kyautofill and kypackinglist files are within that folder. Let me know!
I've follwed this thread for a while now, and I'm glad you posted this!! I've been wondering what those "two files" are and had no clue where they came from.... now I know that it's the kayak app.
I did what you said, and yes they seem to be "sync documents"? from icloud, and used for the kayak travel app.
Now, is it safe to delete these? I tried to change the icloud "documents and data" settings regarding this app, but still, these two files persist. I went as far as deleting the app from my phone, but I continue to see these files on my mac...
FIXED
... well scratch that, I twinkered with the Kayak app settings & the icloud pannel in settings... and voila! i was able to turn off the feature that enabled the KY autofill and KY packing list documents...
You do not need those files...here is a summary of the solution:
To view the Kayak icloud files on your MAC
Go ->
Go To Folder ->
type: ~/Library/Mobile Documents/ ->
Go ->
open kayak travel folder ->
open the documents folder ->
view kyautofill and kypackinglist files
To turn off Kayak app storing documents on iCloud (which then places these files on your mac if it is synced via your apple ID)...on your iPhone or iPad
Settings ->
iCloud ->
Documents & Data ->
Kayak (disable) OR disable all Documents & Data storage to iCloud
The files reappear even after I've disabled Kayak and deleted the files.
EDIT: I've fixed this issue by first deleting the files from iCloud, then deleting from local storage: ~Library/Mobile Documents/*~com~kayak~travel
