Does Epson Perfection V600 Photo Scanner work well w Macbook?

I'm thinking about getting an Epson Perfection V600 Flatbed Photo Scanner. I have Leopard 10.6 OSX. Has anyone tried the scanner with a Macbook? What's the verdict? The scanner's been out a few years and all-in-ones have wireless and other features but I really don't need an office machine. I'm on a tight budget and the Perfection V700s are not possible. I have read reviews of AIOs in the price range up to $250 and most indicate that if scanning photos, film and negatives are your thing, a photo flatbed is the way to go because the AIOs can only scan photos, I think. Any suggestions for how I can make good photo scans on a budget? Is the V600 a good choice?
