If I install Apple TV, will my Dish Network TV cease to function? Or will it be something I can switch back and forth between?

Recently found out we owned this, never installed. Family wants me to install it for them, but they would have a cow if installing it meant they could never have their Dish Network or DVR again. Help?

I'm not sure what you're getting at. The Apple TV in no way interferes with exsiting equipment like the Dish Network box. Most newer HDTVs (big screen TVs) have more than one HDMI input that you can switch between. If you have a home theatre amplifier/speaker system the newer ones have multiple HDMI inputs and built-in switches. In my own setup I have a Dish VIP622 DVR, an Apple TV, and a Blu-ray player all connected to my HDTV and can switch bewteen them at will.

Ok, thats good to know. All I am trying to find out: when I install the ATV, will I only be able to use iTunes, or will I actually be able to watch live TV, record shows into my Dish DVR, and watch them? I guess my worry is that installing the ATV will somehow wipe the TV's abilities entirely, so I could only watch my iTunes purchased movies, or listen to my library's music. It wont do that, will it?
