question

I received the following email apparently from Apple asking me to amend my Apple password as a download had been made which was not associated with any of my Apple devices. We have a MacBook Pro, and iMac and an iPad, but I am not aware of any such download, not even to my android HTC phone.

Dear Judith M D Rose,

Your Apple ID was just used to download Live Street View Free from the App Store on a computer or device that had not previously been associated with that Apple ID.

If you initiated this download, you can disregard this email. It was only sent to alert you in case you did not initiate the download yourself.

If you did not initiate this download, we recommend that you go toiforgot.apple.com to change your password, then see Apple ID: Tips for protecting the security of your account for further assistance.

Regards,
Apple

Is this genuine?

Yes. However, now you have advertised your email address to anyone who reads in the forums. You should never publish your personal info here such as your email address.
