How do I transfer pics from my old pc to my new MacBook?

I have a bunch of pics on my old pc notebook that I would like to transfer to my new MacBook Pro. How do I do this?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6)

Either use the Migration Assistant, or move them through an external drive or via file sharing over a network.
