Slow start up on upgrade to IOS X lion on MacBook

Hi Guys I have MacBook with IOS X Snow Leapard installed. I updated to IOS X Lion via Apps store.

Everything runs great except that it now takes ages to start up the MacBook.

I have been told I might need to remove snow Leapard.

Any ideas.
