Is my USB (iMacDV slot loading) compatible with Jump Drives

Getting a new mac and want to get the old files off my computer. Someone suggested a 1GB jump drive instead of buying a retro cd burner for one time use.

ANY SUGGESTIONS

In my Apple System Profiler, my USB says 1.5.6.

I thought there was only USB 2.0, 1.1, and 1.0.

So will a newer USB 2.0 Jump Drive be compatible with my older iMacDV (running OS 9.2)?

thank you very much

YOur iMac has USB 1. The 1.5.5 is probably referring to the version number of the uSB drivers or something like that.

USB 2 devices are generally backwards comaptible with USB 1 ports.

Jump drives tend to be very compatible. Should be as easy as plugging it in. I doubt you'd have a problem.

Another solution is simply to get a crossover ethernet cable and connect the two machiens in a network. Then just drag and drop the files across. Will be faster than using a USB device, though it requires a bit more setup.
