Image Still Cropped When Viewed Full Screen

Hi everyone. I am trying to figue out if there is any way in iBooks Author to have an image cropped(masked) in layout view, but then enable it to show the full unmasked and uncropeed image when tapped to be viewed full screen on the iPad.

I have a client that wants some image to only take up half a page vertically and have a widescreen type crop with text on the lower half of the page, but would like to see the full image when tapped on instead of the widescreen crop. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Aproximate 4:3 ratio at aproximatly 2048 x 1536.

Yes, but if I don't maks then it doesn't work for the layout. For example, for this layout I need an image ratio of 3:1 so I import a image with a ratio of 4:3 and I shrink and crop it to fit the layout. But once cropped(masked) for the layout, when viewed full screen on the iPad it is also cropped and does not show the full origional 4:3 image.

I do have some pages with full screen images unmasked and they retain their unmasked look when viewed full screen, but any maksing does not reveal the full image when tapped to view full screen on the iPad. I think this is by design, but I was wondering if there is way to bypass this some or all the time.

Nice Idea K T.

Thanks for the suggestion. Are you meaning to put a 100 pt+ line border on the image or somethig else?

I tried it with the line border, but when I reaply the mask then the border is reconfigured to the mask and then impedes the viewing of the image with the 100 pt broder.

Thanks K T. Not sure we are on the same page anymore. I am wanting the image to be cropped when in the page view, but no cropping or masking when in full screen view on iPad. Here is what happened when I tried what you suggested:

1. Added border

2. Masked image

3. Border moves to obscure masked image.

4. When viewed full screen on iPad, still cropped ;-(

Thanks K T, but this is not solving the issue. I know how to mask/crop the images, but any image that is masked/cropped, when viewed full screen on the iPad remains masked/cropped. I am wanting to see if there is any way to set it so when viewed full screen the origional unmasked/uncropped image is show. Similar to how a thumbnail works on a web page. The thumbnail is usally small and square, but when clicked on, it links and displays the full origional image. Does that make sense?
