Ipod nano 7th gen

Hello, i have purchased an ipod 7th generation ipod nano for my son and i don't want him to use headphones, where we live we are unable to use bluetooth, and i wanted to put the ipod on a docking station however not able to, i purchased a connector to plug into the ipod then sit it on the docking station however it does not work and a message comes up saying " does not support this accessory", i have no idea what i am doing wrong i probably shoudln't have bought the 7th gen ipod anyway we have it now and would appreciate any help on how we can listen to his story books etc on a docking station? The connector wasn't an apple product would that make any difference? thanks for any help.

Check with the manufacturer of the docking station and see if an Apple lightning adapter will work.

Is Bluetooth illegal where you live?

I just took the 7th generation nano to Bose to find out why it doesn't work with my docking station. It didn't work on the new Bose docking station either. The employer, who knows about electricity, but not about Apple products speculated that the electrical charge is too strong for this nano. My third generation works fine as does the larger new Ipod. The 7th generation doesn't work on a much cheaper docking station either. I returned my new nano and sent a note to Apple Support hoping they can work out the problem.

Your 7th Generation iPod Nano didn't work on the Bose Sounddock III that has a Lightning connector?

There is no "electrical" problem, I think your Nano needed to be serviced.

I tried two brand new nano's today and three new lightning connectors. Nothing worked so I returned everything.

You tried 2 new Nanos with the Sounddock III and they didn't work?

I tried them in the store on the newest Bose Sounddock without success. The 3rd generation nano and the newest larger ipod worked.

I have read on line that others tried the new nano on other docking stations without success. I think I will wait until the next generation and see if that works..

If you tried them on the Bose with the Lightning connector and it did not work then Bose has a problem (not unusual) and needs to change their advertising for their product. My 7th works with the adaptor on my B&W Zeppelin and my Logitech portable dock. It depends on the design of the dock and this will not change with future generations.
