New Verizon Email Settings for iPad Mail

Verizon has recently changed the email settings to the following and Apple needs to update the database of the common email settings for the device setup.

Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.verizon.net

Incoming Server Port Numbers: 995

Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.verizon.net

Outgoing Server Port Numbers: 465 Why is this important?

Make sure SSL encryption is enabled for the incoming and outgoing mail server.


When I add the Verizon mail account from Apple Mail on the iPad it automatically sets POP3 to incoming.verizon.net port 110 and SMTP to outgoing.verizon.net port 25. This is no longer correct and will stop working in the future. When will Apple update the settings database to reflect the new settings to avoid having to manually edit the email settings after adding the Verizon account to Apple Mail.

Perhaps when Verizon notofies them? They probably already have, but since those pre-set values are on the iPad, they will not get updated until a general iOS update is issued. Not likely that Apple is going to issue an update for just this alone, particularly since there is a viable and easy work around.

OK all, I set up the verizon email account exactly as Keith Weisshar stated. I have tried using my username with and without the @verizon.net and I continue to get an error that the username or password is incorrect. I can log onto my verizon webmail account using the exact credentials that I'm typing in the iphone set up and continue to get the incorrect user or password prompt. Any ideas? iphone 4 with iOS6.1.3
