Macbook pro Retina display - 3 weeks old - connects erratically to home wifi over Airport Express
iphone and iMac connects to the same wifi network. I am connecting through iphone hot spot to write this question. please help.

Do you have Bluetooth turned on? If so there is interference between the WiFi and BT so to get good WiFi you have to turn off the BT.

I have blue tooth turned off. I have been a macuser for over 25 years now. Never had an issue with any mac products so far. first time. great disappointment. Its not even a month old. Want to return my laptop.

Please send me your solution. I have a 15" as well and having serious problems connecting with my iPhone through the personal hotspot. I connect to my iPhone, but there is no internet connection, its frustrating as I need the internet. Please help if you can.

I'm having the same issue and my MacBook cannot even connect back to when it was connected before.
I updated my airport utility software on all devices. including my new macbook pro and everything is fine now.
You can go to applications and find airport utility and then click on it. you will get 2 icons, the bottom one is your airport express. click on it and update and things will be fine. do the same for all devices and you will have no problem.

I have posted my solution i.e. update airport utility software. Ocourse you needa working internet connection for that!
I have a 27 inch imac, mac book pro, mac book pro with retina display, iphone 4, iphone 4s, 2 x iphone 5. Each device was showing erratic internet connections at some point in time or the other.
I just updated Airport Utility Software. You can find it in Applications/Utilities. When you click on Airport utilities, it opens a window with 2 icons. The bottom icon will look like your airport express. click on that and then you will get info on the right. If , I repeat if, your Airport utility software requires updation, you will be prompted in the info box. Click that and then you will be fine.
However, the irony is that you need an internet connection for this. I set up a hot spot on my phone and did it.

Tried it, however, if you don't have the Airport Express, that icon never appears. Your solution does not work for Macs that don't connect to Airport routers.
