Problems syncing Gmail contacts to iPad mini.

I just bought and iPad mini (first Apple purchase) and I have tried everything to sync my Gmail contacts with it. I tried the Microsoft Exchange feature and even adding it via CardDAV, but after it is complete and I go check my contacts app, there is nothing there.

Any tips on how to make this work?

Is there a way to sync them using iTunes on PC? I am also having troubles installing iTunes, I will go leave a message about that in the appropriate section.

I explained the problem in the link I posted but here it is again:

iTunes installation stuck at "Installing Apple Application Support".

This is the first time I have tried installing iTunes since I recently bought an Apple product. Problem is, the installation gets stuck at the very beggining of the process. The progression bars stays empty no matter how long I leave the window open. The window won't even close when I try to cancel, I have to nuke everything via the task manager.

I have Windows 7 Home premium, 64-bit.

then something on your computer is blocking the installation. Security software or some other application maybe.
