Can I connect iPad 4 with an iPhone 5 in order to transfer video recorded on it ?

I would like to transfer videos made by iPhone 5 to iPad 4 in order to use it with iMovie ( more easy to use iPad) . I'm wondering if I buy lighting to USB camera adapter will it be possible? Wi fi is a solution but in a video with more than 5 min in 1080 will spent a lot of time.
