my ipod cracked can i get a new screen?

My iPod's screen is cracked. I wanted to know if it was true that Apple could replace your craked screen with a new screen for free? I have had my iPod since May,23,2012 can someone please help me out!

Not for free, but some models of iPod and some Apple Stores will do screen repair for a smaller fee than replacement would be.

What do you mean by that ? My friend had an Apple product which was an iPod as well, he cracked the screen and told me that he called Apple and had it replaced with a new screen for free and he told me to do that as well but I wanted to know for sure what to do or how to do it !

Cracked screen counts as accidental damage, so it's not covered under warranty. It is definitely not free.

I just bought a new screen for my ipod. the are realy cheap on amazon or ebay.
