Kernal Panic upon start-up

I have a late-206 Black MacBook. When I start it up, an error message occurs (the karnal panic) and I have to shut it down again. I took it to a local mac store and they said the panics were being caused by the dead battery.

I got a new battery and started it up. The Kernal Panics are still happening. However, now the laptop will sometimes start up normally or in safe-boot. This only happens rarely, though. I also checked to make sure the RAM was in all the way. Still Panicing.

What could be causing this and how can I fix it? Or is my laptop dead?

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8), 2GB RAM, 2GHz Intel C2D

Kernel panics are usually, but not always, caused by hardware. If you're able to, run theApple hardware test. Run the extended test, which can take over an hour to run.

I do not have the original install disks. I can't find them and might have gotten rid of them! Is there any way to run a hardware test?

You can use a commercial product like TechTool Pro. The Apple Hardware Test is unfortunately only available on the install CDs that came with the system.

One thing you can do is to reseat and/or reverse your memory cards, in the event that's contributing.

Can you copy and paste the most recent panic log here? The logs often will offer some clues.

I can't get the logs but I did Re-install the OS (10/6). I tested turning on the computer with out the battery installed and it worked! And it keeps working!

How can I get the logs so you can look at them?

There is no such folder with that name. I went as far as Library>Logs then nothing. Is there any other way? I am doing my research now.

I went to console and copied the logs from yesterday. I don't know if this will help any.
