Profile Manager does not recognise updated applications

Hi Everyone,

We have been using Profile Manager to restrict access to what applications can be run by users. Our profile allows users to run things like Chrome and Firefox etc.

This has been working fine until we decided to upgrade Chrome & Firefox (ie v13 -> v19). Now users are unable to run Firefox & Chrome, I assume this is because the executables have now changed. So I updated the versions of Chrome & Firefox on the server and logged into Profile Manager to update the settings.

However, even after rebooting the server, starting and stopping Profile Manager and even upgrading from Lion Server to Mountain Lion, Profile Manager refuses to acknowlege that Chrome and Firefox have been upgraded. It still lists the outdated version numbers.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Have you tried deleting the profile from Profile manager and recreating it

No joy. Created a new profile, went to OS X -> Restrictions -> Clicked on the add button and only the old Firefox version is listed.

I wonder if flushing spotlight would help?
I noticed that after drag-copying a load of apps to the server (don't get me started on that terrible design), they did not appear in Profile Manager until Spotlight had finished indexing.

Unfortunately that didn't work either. I got spotlight to reindex, then rebooted, then went back into Profile Manager and it still says the old version

I am experiencing the same; apps do not refresh themselves. Anybody have any solution to this? Greatly appreciated!!

I wonder if any of the other MDM's have the same problem

I guess if you had the time you could try Meraki it's free

Great, another hiccup to look forward to in the future. Mine isn't recognizing third-party applications like Word and Firefox at all. (10.8.5 server/client)

Unfortunately Meraki apparently only supports remote wipe for iOS and Android and not Macs.
