Can anyone help me on how to network two macs on the network with the Network Midi Setup. I keep getting a refusal to connect notice, I'm pretty sure I set up everything correctly and both my macs can see each other in the directory. I'm connecting a dual intel mini with a Dual g4 powermac. I have no other share issues with these macs on my network.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

When you see each others computer in the Directory then your connection is fine. Make sure that both machines are on the same local subnet, then Bonjour will doo the rest and find each other. So that part seems to be correct.
Make sure you have set the "Who may connect tom" popup menu correctly. This setting can restrict the actual connetion even if the computers "see" each other. Set it to "Anyone"

Well, I remember one case where the MIDI network refused connection.
One of my computers is usually connected to a cable modem, and to build a local network I just unplug it. Once when the local MIDI network refused connection I noticed that the computer address shown in AMS didn't look as usual but was some special address related to my internet provider. After switching TCP/IP in system preferences off and on, the normal address came back and everything worked well.
Sometimes a simple relog of any of the computers' user would fix some network issues. ANd let me add, as mentioned before "Boujour" will handle for the rest.
By AMS, you mean the Audio/Midi setup utility. Yes, I had both open. Still no connection. Very strange. Can't find a post or instructions that duplicates the problem I'm having. Thank you for the responses so far.
Hmm. You said you unplug the machine on the cable modem. I have a cable modem with both machines getting receiveing internet and IP address based on the assignment from my router. Should I have unplug internet access to the machines?
Should the IP address of the machine be a manual address and not one assigned by the router? I'm sorry, but I'm still a bit confused. Maybe the network access has not to be assigned by the cable access, if that is what's happening.
Hi everyone, Well I will try again. Edgar, you are saying that if I am seeing the computers in the directory, they are connected, even though I hit connect and before it could show up in the participants window, I get the connection refused message. By the way, your manuals are awesome. I need to study the midi set up a bit more. I'll try it again.
Yes! It worked. I set it to "All" like you said, and presto. Now, I'll read up on your manual again to gain more insight. By the way, does anyone here use RAX as a
Audio Unit controller on a second machine?
Yes, I believe both Firewalls are disabled. I never turned them on actually.
I tried it through my wireless router and directly through an ethernet connection.
