ipad & gmail

I use both yahoo & gmail on ipad.

yahoo mail is worked without fault for 18months on ipad.

gmail is an enduring mystery and I have wasted countless hours trying to figure out inconsistencies between its behaviour on my PC and on ipad.

Latest instalment for example:

1. Changed gmail password on PC.

2. gmail on ipad would not then work.

3. gmail on ipad via browser would not accept new password that had been set on PC

4. I did a password reset request on ipad via browser and received password change link on my yahoo (recovery) email

5. Using link I reset gmail password on ipad

6. The alternate email recovery address was blank - even though I had entered an alternate recovery address on this gmail on PC.

7. Tried adding the same alternate recovery email address as already entered on PC and it gave error - already in use on another account !

8. gmail now OK on ipad and via browser on ipad.

9. new password set on ipad now works on pc.

I am in the process of clearing out and closing my gmail account but need to use it until I have notified everyone of new address.In the meantime can anyone tell me if this is a known bug or just a feature?
