Automatic software update does not work any more

After upgrading to Snow Leopard ,10,7,8,the automatic software update function does not work.It seaeches for the updates,finds them,but when installing,an unexpected error is occurring and the installation is terminated.

I have reset the diskauthority settings in teh diskhelp program,but that does not work.any other suggestion ?
