my iPod 2nd generation green light does not turn on at all it's completely shut down

my iPod 2nd generation green light does not turn on at all there seems to be no lights of function to use iPod what should I do before I send it for repair,I don't want to have to restore to being settings and lose all of my songs.

iPod shuffle, Windows XP

HI frazier,

it could be beacuse your ipod shuffle battery doesen't work. However, there are a few things you can try. First, check out Apple's troubleshooting page at: http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_r…

You may be able to restore your iPod Shuffle using the Apple iPod Reset Utility. Read about it here (includes download links):
