If I have 2 files that look identical, and both are .dmg, "disk image," if I delete one, will it affect the other?

I am trying to free up memory and have generated a list of the largest files.

Most of these are videos I have of my students' performances.

Some appear to be duplicates, so my question is this: if I delete one, will that affect the one that looks like it is a duplicate?

These are generally ".dmg" files and are also "disk image."

Thanks so much!
