I cannot scan from my Canon MP499 printer/scanner.

I have downloaded every possible software piece, and still nothing. How can I get the images to scan onto my mac from the Canon Pixma MP499 device?

MacBook, iOS 5, Canon PIXMA MP499

I've used an MP560 under OS X 10.5 thru 10.7 without issue. The key, I found, is to have the MP Navigator and the current scanner driver, which are available herewith the other Canon drivers and software.

Are you able to print to it? Are you cabled or wireless?
