I've got an eMail from WeTransfer.com which contains a link to download a video file. However, when I click on the link, Safari takes me to the WeTransfer site but it won't actually download the file - I have an icon in the middle of the screen showing a downward pointing arrow with a oblique line across it. What do I need to change to allow download of the file?

What you can download via Safari is limited, and as the iPad doesn't have a 'file system' like a 'normal' computer, everything has to be stored within an app e.g. you can download PDFs and epubs to the iBooks app, but you can't download videos to the built-in Videos app
That is not a feature of Safari. Try another browser such as iCab Mobile.
It will work if you send single file via WeTransfer. Do not send multiple files.
IIt does not seem possible as you receive an email that when opened automatically opens default browser (Safari) with no way to re direct
