Q: Data Migration from PC backup drive?

What is the easiest way to transfer data from a PC backup hard drive? My computer (old PC) is now completely frozen up on boot up and is worthless. I can not download the Migration Assistant to that computer. The only thing I can think of is using a friends computer to support and transfer the hd. Unfortunately for me, most of my tech smart friends have macs. Ideas?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities

One thing you can do is to buy an enclosure, put your hard disk into it and connect the enclosure to your MacBook Pro by USB, so you will get access to the hard disk and you will be able to recover the data you want. Just open Finder and select the hard disk in the Finder sidebar, under "Devices".

You can find enclosures for the hard drive in OWC > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/hard-drives/External-Enclosures/

Thank you, I have a friend who said he has a "reader". Would that be able to do the same thing?

If you ask him what he's referring to with a "reader", it would be better. I don't know what he's referring to, but it may be an enclosure
